A rugby fan is back home in Bicester victorious after his world record attempt to play a game in the North Pole.

Stephen Henry trekked 100 miles to the North Pole to play “The Most Northerly Match in History”, a seven-a-side rugby match with ex-internationals Tim Stimpson and Ollie Phillips.

The 32-year-old said: “The trek was hard but we were quite lucky with the weather because it was not as cold as it could have been.

“The hard part was living out there and surviving in the cold, obviously we were wearing gloves so it was hard getting the poles set up for the tent.

“It was a fantastic team effort and there were a lot of people from all walks of life with a great sense of humour and the spirit of the camp kept everyone going when we could have been miserable and cold.

“It was a really competitive game of rugby.”
