A HISTORIC bomber made a special appearance at Bicester Heritage’s Flywheel Festival.

Over the weekend vintage cars, military vehicles and aircraft were on display at the RAF Bicester site.

One of the highlights was a Bristol Blenheim bomber, which returned home for the first time in more than 75 years.

The Bristol Blenheim entered RAF service in 1938, after which Bicester became the training centre for the aircraft, which was used extensively early on in the Second World War.

Spokesman for the Bicester Flywheel event at Bicester Heritage Stephen Slater said: “It was a great success. We have had a huge amount of feedback about how everyone felt really involved.

“We had a Spitfire finale, which was just fantastic.”
