A CAKE machine caught fire in Bicester yesterday at a bakery factory.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to British Bakels Ltd in Granville Way at 6.45pm after a “rapidly developing fire” involving a very large industrial cake machine.
By this time the site manager had already evacuated the premises, and there were no injuries to staff or fire fighters.
Four fire engines were used to put out the fire, preventing it from spreading inside the building.
Station manager Julian Green said: “The initial speed and weight of the attack from the attending crews kept the fire contained to the cake machine and extinguished it quickly, preventing a major fire involving the whole factory.”
