TURNING tat into treasure is the name of the game for one Bicester charity looking to share its talents.

Recycling charity Bicester Green is looking to teach residents the art of upcycling unwanted items to help reduce waste in the town.

The group’s latest initiative – Bicester Moves – will target house movers with a number of free workshops and events to help sell, upcycle and refurbish items.

Centre manager at Bicester Green, Emma Gordon, said: “We have training sessions for selling online, and on the last Friday of each month we hold markets in Sheep Street to help people sell their old items.

“It is too easy to go to the tip. We have found that people often do not know how to sell or shift their stuff so the initiative helps Also, many don’t have the tools to shift large items so that is where our van is key.”

The online selling workshop will be next Tuesday, and on Tuesday, October 13, teaching how to sell old items on websites Ebay or Gumtree.

A community furniture market stall is also being organised on the last Friday of every month to help people shift unwanted items.

As part of Bicester Moves the charity seeks a family moving house in November. The group hopes to support them while moving and arrange a community garage sale in the area to help them shift unwanted items.
