A BICESTER couple are travelling to Greece with supplies to help thousands of refugees fleeing war-torn countries.
Husband and wife Chris and Brittany Price, from Bicester, felt compelled to do their bit after hearing of the desperate situation from friends Adam and Liz Gough who are volunteering there.
The pair, who live in New Street, set themselves just 10 days to raise funds, collect donations and travel to the country to hand out supplies with the help of the Highway Christian Church in Marsh Gibbon.
Mrs Price, 27, said: “We were sitting in church reading the latest update from Adam and Liz. They had been talking with victims – lawyers, doctors, nurses who now have nothing and families that had been walking for days.”
“It really touched both of us. I actually had to get up and leave because I was so overwhelmed.”
The couple were due to set off at 3am today to travel via Italy, on their way to Thessaloniki, close to the refugee camps in Macedonia.
The journey will cost the couple more than £1,000 so they have also been raising money towards that, with extra funds going on further supplies. So far their ‘go fund me’ website has received £1,435 and the couple have collected about 200 bags of supplies.
