A BEAUTY group has said it will no longer supply a Bicester salon linked to allegations of racial abuse.

Police have confirmed a woman from Bicester was arrested in connection with racially abusive comments on Blinks of Bicester's Facebook page and said she had been bailed.

The arrest came after a post appeared on the salon's Facebook page, saying that the business would no longer take “bookings from anyone from the Islamic faith”.

This afternoon the beauty group Nouveau published a statement on its website which said: "Regarding the recent reports concerning Blinks of Bicester: The individual is not a franchisee nor is she employed by our company.

"We will be terminating any future supply of our products to this independent business with immediate effect.

"We [Nouveau Lashes, Nouveau Beauty Group, Nouveau Contour, Nouveau Skin Therapy and HD Brows] abhor racism and completely reject the views of this individual and the messages posted publicly on her salon page.

"This is now a matter for Thames Valley Police so we are unable to comment any further."

The Facebook postings on Blinks of Bicester's page were said to have read: "Blinks of Bicester are no longer taking bookings from anyone from the Islamic faith whether you are UK granted with passport or not" and "Sorry but time to put my country first."

Police said a 43-year-old woman from Bicester was arrested on Sunday under section 19 of the Public Order Act after a number of reports from members of the public.

She has been bailed until Monday, November 30.

Section 19 of the Act relates to the display of written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting with the intention of stirring up racial hatred and for producing malicious communications.

Sgt Steve Dixon said: "Thames Valley Police treats all allegations of racial aggravation very seriously and will always take steps to investigate them.

“Anyone who has information about such offences should call the 24-hour police enquiry line on 101”.
