HANDYMEN and domestic goddesses will use their magic touch to spruce up broken electrical gadgets tomorrow.

Volunteers from Bicester Green will be heading to the East Oxford Farmers' Market for their Restart party.

The team is calling on residents to give their tired electrical items a new lease of life by bringing them to the market for repair.

Stewart Harding, who has been volunteering at the Bicester centre for more than a year, said residents should think twice about throwing out their broken gadgets and gizmos.

The father-of-four added: "Even if you have a little problem with it, you can still get another one or two years out of it instead of buying a new one.

"Instead of throwing it away for landfill, it would be a lot better for everyone."

Volunteers will be on hand at East Oxford Primary School, in Union Street, between 10am and 1pm to try and fix troublesome electrical items.

Mr Harding said the team will be ready to tackle small bits and bobs, including radios, kitchen equipment and gardening tools.

Problems with items will be diagnosed by trained team members before they get to work fixing residents' belongings.

Bicester Green volunteers will also sell small refurbished items to visitors to the market.

Mr Harding said he found it "rewarding" working at the Bicester centre, in Station Approach, which saves items from landfill by repairing them.

The 49-year-old added: "It's something I enjoy. Each day is different when you go there. It's just helping to give back."
