VINTAGE tractor fans and farming fanatics ploughed their way through competitions to help raise £2,000 for charity.

The Bicester Vintage Tractor Club hosted a ploughing match and fun day for families on Sunday to head along to and show off their farming skills.

Crowds gathered at New House Farm in Oddington, near Bicester, and got stuck into ploughing various plots with a number of different types of tractor to hand to battle it out for top spot.

Club member Glen Nash said: "It was a fantastic day.

"The event was well supported and attended and the weather was perfect.

"The match plots saw a good standard of ploughing throughout and one very pleasing aspect was the number of young people taking part.

"We hope to continue to support and encourage them as they are the future of the vintage tractor and farm machinery movement.

"The working area for non competitors also saw action most of the day.

"After the match the auction saw some very generous bidding and the raffle table straining under the under the weight of so many generously donated prizes – so thank you to all of the competitors, bidders, buyers and donors."

Mr Nash also paid thanks to supporter Jackie Bagnall for providing the venue and food for the event which was held as a memorial to her late husband Dave Bagnall.

Mr Bagnall - a keen vintage tractor enthusiast - passed away July this year aged 74 and in his memory the event raised £2,100 for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
