A BANNING order forbidding people from visiting two properties plagued by anti-social behaviour have been dished out.

The homes in Bicester were slapped with the three-month closure orders after police appealed to magistrates for the restrictions on Friday.

It came after a ‘number of incidents’ of suspected drug-related crime at both properties in the town, Thames Valley Police confirmed.

Sgt Stephen Willis, of Bicester Town Neighbourhood Policing team, said he hoped the orders would curb offending at the properties.

He added: “Prior to securing these closure orders, officers worked closely with the tenants of each property, as well as the housing provider and Cherwell District Council, all of whom supported the applications.

“The hope is that by restricting who can be within the property over the next three months, this will prevent further incidents occurring, which will help safeguard the tenants and the wider community from being exposed to this type of behaviour.

“Regular checks will be made at both properties by the police to ensure the closure orders are not being breached.”

Officers appeared at Banbury Magistrates’ Court, applying to extend an existing closure order at 26 Hudson Street. They also applied to obtain a new order for Flat 14, Evenlode House, in Evenlode Close.

Only specified people can now enter the properties and anyone breaching the order can be arrested, the force said.
