GHOSTLY goings-ons and mysterious movements at a north Oxfordshire hotel have landed it a prime spot in a paranormal TV show.

Paranormal investigator Jayne Harris is hoping her crew will roll into The Manor Hotel in Weston-on-the-Green, near Bicester, early next year armed with a collection of creepy tales.

Neighbours and past guests are being asked to get in touch with their own supernatural stories about The Manor and the nearby area as they attempt to touch base with the spirit world.

Ms Harris, founder of paranormal investigator company HD Paranormal, said: "We were looking for places which haven't featured on TV particularly much before with paranormal shows, as ghost hunting shows tend to use the same locations.

"So initially we were keen to identify places with good history and stories but that are maybe lesser known.

"I happened to read about The Manor in a ghost book of mine."

The TV presenter and investigator said a little research found the hotel to be more than 900 years old and came across a couple of spine-tingling tales thought to be linked to the its past as a monastery.

Ms Harris said: "One story I have been told is about a ghost known as 'Mad Maud', who is apparently a nun that died near the site.

"There used to be a monastery where the hotel sits today and the majority of the building is Tudor, with at least part of it dating back to the 11th century.

"There is also a story of the stable blocks where there was a fire in the 16th, or maybe 17th century, it was in the attic and apparently children were trapped in it.

"People have said they have heard children's footsteps."

The TV show – described by Ms Harris as Time Team meets Most Haunted – hopes to be different to other ghost hunting shows by looking into the history of The Manor and the local area.

Ms Harris said the show – which has yet to be given a title – will include a psychic medium, a team of investigators, a psychic artist as well as high-tech equipment in the hope of getting footage of paranormal activities.

She added: "We would like to speak to anyone who has had or heard of any strange experiences at The Manor or in the local area.

"We have heard of a phantom coach and horses that has been heard nearby whilst people are walking their dogs.

"We want to hear about any experiences around the building and although we are still in pre-production we hope to begin filming on January 8 for a couple of days."

As part of the spooky theme the hotel is hosting afternoon teas throughout October, where people can share their ghostly tales.
