IT IS normally the designer shopping outlet that attracts celebrities to Bicester but an England football hero decided he’d rather visit a barber's instead.

Former England star Paul Gascoigne was spotted having a quick trim in Sterling Gentlemens Barbers in Pioneer Square on Good Friday.

Football fan Dan Hennessy was with his family outside the barbers when they noticed the famous face through the window.

Mr Hennessy said: “We were waiting to get the bus to Oxford, when I saw him through the window.

“So I went in to say hello and he was more than happy to have a chat.”

The Bicester dad said Gazza told him he was on his way to Cardiff for Anthony Joshua's world title fight against Joseph Parker and was meeting with a friend who was picking him up from Bicester along the way.

It seems the star had some time to spare and stopped of for a bit of a spruce up in Bicester town centre whilst he had the time.

Mr Hennessy, who was with his 11-year-old twin sons Jack and Finlay, added: “ We just had a brief chat about the boxing, before getting on to football. I was telling my boys about how much of a legend he is and the goals he scored.

“He looked healthy and well, and in good spirits - just happy to have a chat and a picture.

“It was great to meet him, you don’t expect to see someone like him in Bicester.”
