DAD-OF-TWO Peter Snelgrove, above, was so moved by the plight of a family’s race to raise £72,000 for a life-changing operation for their son that he rode to Paris for them.

Barry and Danielle McConnell launched an appeal to raise enough cash for an operation to help their son Oliver take his first steps.

The two-year-old, whose father is a Staff Sergeant based at Bicester Garrison, was starved of oxygen at birth and diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of 10 months.

So far the family have raised £25,000.

Mr Snelgrove, 41, of Bicester, said: “It’s important for me to help with Oliver’s fundraising, as I have a one-year-old and a three-year-old who are both fit, healthy, happy boys.

“If they were not, I know I would not stop to do whatever was needed to get them medical attention.”

Mr Snelgrove cycled 300 miles from London to Paris and raised £295.
