A man was cut free from his lorry after a crash between two heavy goods vehicles sent beer barrels spilling out on to the A34 near Didcot.

The crash happened at about 12.45am on Saturday on the road’s southbound carriageway between Milton and West Ilsley.

The man in his 40s was cut free from his articulated lorry by firefighters and was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.

Fire crews from Wallingford, Kidlington, Didcot and Abingdon attended and also helped clear up a diesel spill.

The road was closed until about 6am while The Environment Agency cleared up the spillage.
