THE power of steam was on display on Saturday at a gala event at Didcot Railway Centre.

Among the trains on display for visitors to enjoy were the centre’s replica Fire Fly Broad Gauge Tender Locomotive, a London and South Western Railway T9 class 4-4-0 and a 3650 Great Western Pannier Tank.

Oxford Mail:

Kevin Dare, from Reading, above, is the driver of the 75-year-old 3650 and said he has spent 21 years helping to restore it to its former glory.

The 58-year-old said: “You tend to get two kinds of visitors to the centre, the real hardcore enthusiasts, who want to know everything about it, and the families who have just come for a day out.”
