Council bosses are looking to introduce a new method to make developers pay for infrastructure upgrades like roads.

South Oxfordshire District Council wants to introduce the community infrastructure levy (CIL) and is asking people to comment on the proposed rates.

Developers contribute to transport, education or community upgrades through so-called section 106. But CIL will mean the amount will be based on the size of the project. In Didcot and Berinsfield, residential developers would pay £85 per square metre while the rest of the district will be £150.
