A FIRE-damaged module Didcot B power station is due to start generating power again on Wednesday, RWE nPower has announced.

The blaze almost destroyed four cooling towers at the gas-fired plant on Sunday, October 19. The cause is still being investigated.

Since then, the station has only been generating half of its usual 1,360MW output, as the damaged module – one of two – has been out of action.

The module is due to begin operating again on Wednesday, but nPower spokeswoman Kelly Brown it may be some time before it is back up to full power.
