ROBOTS took centre stage at a family science day at Didcot Cornerstone Arts Centre.

Children and their parents got to design, build and test simple robots and machines at a hands-on activity day, as well as try the real thing brought along by scientists from nearby Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

Kalpana Rai took her six-year-old daughter Kalash to the day.

The nurse, who lives in Didcot, said: “It was good. We stayed there for a couple of hours.

“I was looking for things to do in the holidays and it was on the website.”

She said the Manor School Didcot Academy Trust pupil enjoyed learning about robotics.

“Kalash liked it, she had a good time,” Ms Rai added. “She liked the robots because she spends so much time on the computer and iPad, so it was good for her to have something to grab.”
