GRAPHIC designer Karen Waggott has created a colourful collection of mugs depicting Didcot A power station when it was producing electricity for the National Grid.
The power station closed in 2013 following a European Union directive on emissions and earlier this year three of the iconic cooling towers were demolished. Coal-fired Didcot A closed but gas-fired Didcot B still produces electricity.
About 70 mugs will go on sale at Didcot craft fair at the civic hall in Broadway tomorrow and part of the proceeds from the sale of the £6 mugs will go towards the Anaphylaxis Campaign. Mrs Waggott, 43, has twin sons Jamie and Luke, and Jamie has a nut allergy.
Mrs Waggott said: “If there is a lot of demand for the mugs I might make another batch.

“But I have no plans to make any mugs with an image of Didcot B power station on — it’s not half as iconic.”
