About 1,000 homes in the Didcot area were without water last night due to a burst main near the A34.

Other customers have also experienced a problem with low pressure.

Thames Water has said that its staff are on site, working to get the fault fixed.

Spokesman Stuart White said the homes were affected after the burst on the 12-inch pipe at 8pm last night and the supply was restored at 11pm.

He added: "The pipe is in the middle of a field near Brook Lane so there will be no impact on customers while we are carrying out the repair.

"We've worked to restore supplies to properties in the OX11 area following the burst pipe, with pressure now building back up to normal.

"We are sorry for any disruption and will get the repair completed as soon as possible."
