THESE are the newest neighbours in one of Oxfordshire’s newest neighbourhoods.

Residents in Didcot’s Great Western Park estate, which is still being built, were so keen to foster new friendships they set up a weekly community cafe.

Claire Hann and her team launched their Thursday morning pop-up cafe in the estate’s community centre just weeks after it opened this summer.

Mrs Hann, 35, who moved to the estate with her husband Andrew three-and-a-half years ago, said: “We were one of the first families here and we’re enthusiastic about building the community.”

The cafe, run entirely by volunteers, opens every Thursday morning from 10am to noon.

The Great Western Park community centre is on Dan Read Parade.

Mr and Mrs Hann are parents to five-year-old Lucy and three-year-old Emma. Earlier this week they took them along to a drop-in session put on by Great Western Park developers for children to plan their own playground.
