A FORMER petrol station is set to be decommissioned and demolished to make way for redevelopment.
A planning application has been lodged for the site of the former Shell garage in Broadway, Didcot .
Forecourt buildings, the canopy and underground tanks will be taken down and decommissioned if permission is granted.
The process will be carried out using 'excavators fitted with demolition attachments'.
A future use for the site has not yet been revealed with Shell saying this is 'still to be confirmed subject to planning requirements.'
The petrol station is one of several to have closed across Oxfordshire in the last five years with concerns raised over drivers having to travel longer distances to fill up.
The planning application has been registered with South Oxfordshire District Council and a decision is set to be made by January 12.
