Seventeen people flee Didcot house fire

Seventeen people had to flee a fire in a house in Didcot last night.

Firefighters were called Manor Crescent at 10.48pm and found 17 people leaving the property, with some attempting to fight the blaze.

Neighbours raised the alarm after a fire broke out in a first floor bedroom.

There were no injuries but three members of the family were checked over by paramedics as a precaution.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service believe the cause to be accidental but say there was no working smoke alarm on that floor.
