Former MP may step into ring

DIDCOT: Wrestling promoters are hoping former Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik, above, will show up at a bout in the town on Friday.

Mr Opik caused a stir on Friday at Welshpool, in Wales, when he got into the ring for a tussle with 18-stone wrestler Kade Callous.

Promoter Alan Ravenhill said: “We’re running an event at Didcot Town Football Club and we are confident Lembit will be there. I’m not quite sure why he’s doing this but it’s getting good publicity.”

The show at the football club in Bowmont Water, Ladygrove, starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.

I was at the last didcot wrestling event and it was first time i had been. I only went as my 12 year old son pestred me into going. What a great night it was and will certainly be attending this friday. Not sure about Lembit but still sure will be great night
