ROSE Hill and Littlemore residents have been invited to have their say about where council money for improvements in the area should be spent.

Councillor Gill Sanders has asked people to get in touch with suggestions for minor works such as hedge-cutting or repairing bollards.

Mrs Sanders, who is city councillor for Littlemore and county councillor for Rose Hill and Littlemore, has £14,500 of her £15,000 combined city and county budgets left, which must be spent by the end of January.

Last year she spent money on repainting road markings including zig-zag safety markings outside schools and road resurfacing in Long Wall.

She said the money was available for similar improvements this year.

She added: “The money we have got is for things like gully repairs, fixing bollards, hedge-cutting, sign cleaning and other minor repairs.

“It can be spent to refresh things or to carry out minor works.

“I am more than happy for people to get in touch with me, and the money I have is limited so I need to get requests in before the end of January. There is no guarantee that I will have any money next year. It is important that people get in touch as soon as possible.”

Many repairs are carried out by Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council but Mrs Sanders said using her ward budget was a much easier way for people to get money spent on things that mattered to them.

She said: “I have actually walked around Rose Hill and Littlemore with individuals and looked at the issues that they raised.

“I said, ‘oh yes, there is something we can do about that’.

“It makes it easy for people to get in touch with us because they do not necessarily know which council officers to contact and who to get in touch with.”
