FIREFIGHTERS at Kidlington Fire Station swapped their traditional uniforms for pink t-shirts yesterday to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

They joined fire crews from across the county, who will wear the t-shirts during their drill nights throughout the week.

The team at Kidlington Fire Station were joined by Drago the Dragon, who helps youngsters learn about the dangers posed by fire. Drago joined in with a coffee morning and raffle which raised funds for the breast cancer charity.

Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service area manager for operations and resilience Nigel Wilson said: “Our staff have chosen to take part in our fundraising for cancer charities because it is something that has personally affected them or their family and friends.

“Our fundraising efforts this year have been focused on raising awareness of Breast Cancer Care.

“Without the support of our staff and their voluntary fundraising efforts, we would not be able to raise the huge amount of money that we do for various worthy charitable causes.”
