MEMBERS of the public can give their views on whether an Oxford University college should receive a civil marriage licence.

St Hilda’s College, in Cowley Place, has applied to Oxfordshire County Council for permission to conduct civil marriage ceremonies and civil partnership registrations on its premises.

A public consultation was launched on Wednesday and is due to run until December 31.

During this period a copy of the full application and plans will be available to be inspected at the Oxfordshire Register Office, in Tidmarsh Lane, Oxford.

People can view the plans between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4pm on Friday, excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Anyone who wants to object to the application can make their comments in writing to the Proper Officer for Registration, Oxford Register Office, 1 Tidmarsh Lane, Oxford, OX1 1NS, within this period.
