FILM students are creating a short documentary on Oxford author and screenwriter Richard O Smith in a three-day course.

Mr Smith, from Rose Hill, wrote the screenplay for 2014 film The Unbeatables, starring Rupert Grint and Rob Brydon, and has just published a book to go with it.

The animated film tells the story of a table football team that come to life. The 50-year-old said: “I was principal screen writer for the film The Unbeatables and I’ve done the novel that the film is based on.

“It came out a few days ago.”

He said: “I am a screen writer so I can talk about that process, but mainly I’m presenting myself as a client for real. They have to make a one to two-minute film which includes what I do as an author, which I can use on my website, so hopefully they can promote some of my recent books. They have to devise the format of the film and everything. It’s going very well, there have been some very good ideas.”

The April course finished yesterday but Film Oxford is taking bookings for another course that starts on June 8. Call 01865 792731 or email office@filmoxford.org
