A TEA party and celebrations at a North Oxford nursery helped youngsters toast its recent Ofsted success.

Kidsunlimited Oxford Waterways Day Nursery and Preschool, which cares for 95 youngsters, was awarded a ‘good’ rating after it was previously deemed inadequate.

Staff at the nursery, in Clearwater Place, said they were delighted after the education watchdog praised them for taking “swift and effective action” to improve.

Senior nursery manager Genna Vango said: “This recognises all the hard work that my team has put in to ensure that every area of care and education is provided at the highest level for our children and their families.

“As always out fundamental aim remains to ensure that we create the best possible environment in which children can flourish and naturally love learning forever.”

Inspector Alison Southard visited the nursery last month, where she toured the site, spoke with parents, children and staff, examined nursery documents and records, and observed youngsters during playtime.

She rated all areas of the nursery as ‘good’ including leadership and management, teaching quality, personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for children.

The report read: “Staff plan carefully for children’s individual needs. They observe and assess children’s progress as they play and join in with activities.

“Parents speak highly of the changes that the provider has made.”

Nursery nurse Claire Woodward, who has worked at the nursery for nine years, said: “ Everyone has worked hard and I look forward to the next part of our journey.”
