The parents of a man labelled "Jihadi Jack" have spoken about how they were arrested by police after trying to send money to their son who is thought to be in Syria, it has been reported.

John and Sally Letts, of Grandpont, were talking in an interview on Channel 4 News about their son Jack Letts, 20, who has travelled to Syria.

They revealed how they were bcaught trying to send money to Jack Letts, 20, which they said could be used to buy new glasses.

They have now been bailed pending further investigation.

The pair had previously told the Oxford Mail that Jack had wanted to travel to Syria for humanitarian reasons.

Channel 4 reported that his parents had become concerned that Jack could have attracted the attention of terrorist group Islamic State.

Mrs Letts told the broadcaster: "We know bits and pieces of what he has told us about what he is doing.

"He has worked in a school. He hasn't given us lots of detail but he said he hasn't joined Isis."

South East Counter Terrorism Command said in a statement that it was aware of "recent reports in the media regarding a 20-year-old man from Oxford travelling to Syria and can confirm we are investigating".

It added: "We can confirm a 55-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, from Oxford, were arrested on suspicion of sending money to Syria which could be used for terrorism purposes... and were bailed until 17 February."
