Staff at both of Oxford's universities will strike later this week in a row over pay.
Members of the University and College Union at Oxford University and Oxford Brookes will walk out on Wednesday and Thursday in a pay dispute.
The Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) recently offered a pay rise of 1.1 per cent to university staff but the union described it as "insulting."
It comes as pay and benefits for university leaders was increased by 5.1 per cent in 2014/15.
The union has threatened further strike action targeting open days and graduation ceremonies if an agreement isn't reached in the coming weeks.
UCU official for the area, Moray McAulay said: "A 1.1 per cent pay offer is particularly insulting when we know vice-chancellors have just had more than 5 per cent.
"University staff can no longer put up with the continued squeeze on their income.
"After six years of pay cuts and constant demands to do more for less, staff have said enough is enough."
Striking staff will be on the picket line at the Gipsy Lane campus at Oxford Brookes from 8am on Wednesday, while pickets will be set up at Oxford University at Old Road campus on Wednesday and on Parks Road on Thursday.
UCU members also intend to begin working to contract from Wednesday, refusing overtime, any additional work and voluntary duties such covering for absent colleagues.
