EXCAVATION work continues to take place north of the city as Network Rail's orange army work to complete the connection between Oxford station and Oxford Parkway.
The first train linking the two and then beyond to London Marylebone is scheduled to run on December 12 and the rail firm confirmed yesterday the project remained on track
Two new bay platforms - one of which has already opened - are also being worked on to increase capacity at Oxford station.
Chiltern Railways began offering passenger services from Oxford Parkway to Marylebone last October when the station opened and hoped to extend this to Oxford Station by spring this year.
Concerns raised by residents about noise and vibration through North Oxford had caused some delays to the scheme.
Last month Network Rail applied to withdraw proposals to install 'Silent Track' along sections of track next to more than 200 homes because it did not represent "value for money."
Oxford City Council will decide whether to allow the rail firm to withdraw these measures in October.
