MEMORIES of the once close-knit community of St Ebbe’s in central Oxford will be revived with a new exhibition in the heart of the area.

An exhibition and film on the history of the area, much of which was cleared to make way for the Westgate and new housing, is being launched today at Modern Art Oxford, in Pembroke Street, by 14 students who have created a documentary and installation as part of their work with Film Oxford.

It forms part of Oxford’s Christmas Lights Festival events.

The project will look back at the area’s long history, with accounts from former residents and archives footage.

Geron Swann, of Film Oxford, said: “Everyone is buzzing to launch the exhibition and have been bouncing off the walls with excitement.”

The exhibition, Pigeons over Paradise Square, will run at MAO from 5.30pm-9pm; on Saturday, from 10am-5pm, and Sunday, from noon-5pm.
