A MAN who was bitten by a dog has returned home after undergoing surgery to his hand and thumb.

Brian Donnelly, 65, from Greater Leys, Oxford, was walking his dog near woods off Grenoble Road when he was attacked by two dogs. Either a Staffordshire bull terrier or a pit bull terrier bit him on the hand last Monday at 7pm.

Mr Donnelly was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he remained until Thursday afternoon.

His wife Sue said: “He has been interviewed by the police and now he just wants to forget it. It’s knocked his confidence.”

Police said no-one had been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened a day after an unrelated incident in which a women was bitten on the hip by a rottweiler in Primrose Place, Greater Leys.

Shop assistant Wendy Parker, 56, of Verbena Way, also required hospital treatment.

The dog believed to have attacked her was seized by police on Wednesday.

Police Sgt Rob Axe said: “An appointment has been made to speak to the owner of the dog who will be assisting us with our inquiries.”
