HEADINGTON is set for more road closures in the new year.

Roads will be closed from Monday, January 9, as part of a programme of work to improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.

The junctions of Old Road with Valentia Road, Finch Road and Highfield Avenue will be closed first.

When this is completed, the junctions of Bickerton Road and Stapleton Road with Old Road will be closed for further work. Work on the junctions of Old Road with Lime Walk and Latimer Road with London Road will complete the work, expected to take about 50 days.

Oxfordshire County Council spokesman Marcus Mabberley said: “The work will involve changes to junctions of particular roads which will allow better access for pedestrians and cyclists. Motorists will be able to access all roads via a different route while work is being carried out, except for Finch Road and Highfield Avenue, which are cul-de-sacs and where residents will still have access when required.”
