PM uses cutting humour to open learning block

Prime Minister David Cameron praised a special school in Summertown, Oxford, yesterday for providing its students with “special moments”.
The Witney MP, pictured with pupil Nathan Young, 10, visited Northern House School yesterday to help open a new state-of-the-art building on the site.
The school provides an education for five- to 11-year-olds from across Oxfordshire who have learning difficulties.
The new building includes a food technology suite, library, rooms for special needs support and six classrooms.
It will become an academy – free from the financial control of the county council – from September.
The new block was opened by eight-year-old Cian Simmons, of Banbury, with Mr Cameron joking: “They have not given me the scissors because we do not want any more cuts.”
He added: “I am passionate about special schools and what they offer. I am sure you provide lots of special moments.”
Headteacher Ian Barker said: “The new block will make a huge difference. It is a very calm environment where children can learn and thrive.”
