Serial burglar targeted student properties

A SERIAL burglar who targets student properties has admitting striking again.

Jason Callaghan admitted two charges at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

The 39-year-old, who has numerous previous convictions, took a laptop from a student’s room at St Edmund Hall in Queen’s Lane, Oxford, on October 10.

He was then found on November 3 with another stolen laptop after giving a police officer a false name.

Callaghan, of no fixed address, had gone on trial this week but halted proceedings to admit one count of burglarly and one count of handling stolen goods. The defendant now faces a lengthy jail sentence under the ‘three strikes’ rule, having two previous convictions for dwelling burglaries. His last burglary sentence included more than 30 offences taken into consideration, including 23 that targeted students.

Sentencing will take place on June 6.

This guy won't change his ways, so its time to bang him up for good. Shame we can't export these kind of people to a prison on the Falklands and forget about them..
