Torch tickets

Tickets to the city’s huge Olympic Torch celebration event in South Park are now available to anyone in the county.

Acording to the website, there's no tickets available- seems really odd considering (apparently) so far only around 9,000 have been ordered. Has anyone been able to get through to order tickets?

I'm boycotting every olympic event as a protest against the nauseating, money-grabbing, corrupt commercialism of the whole event.

Who really cares? I can't think of anything less excruciating than this farce.

The Olympic Flame used to represent fair play, the innocence of sport. It was always said to be about the taking part and not the winning. Now it represents greed, self-gratification and everything that is wrong in this world.

The event is just a corporate sham where professional athletes and sportsmen and women compete not for the love of sport, but for personal gain and glory. Fast food chains line the Olympic Board's pockets to peddle junk food and rubbish to the masses. The sooner this charade is out of this city and this country the better.

The city council has a budget of £100,000 for this event and yet they refuse to fund the dial a ride service it's criminal. “We had to make a choice and dial-a-ride was not seen as being at the top of the priority list, because the data was not there.” (Bob Price)

Why would it be opened up to wider region when I could not get the 1 ticket I need and I live locally?
