COMIC book fans and creators from all over the country flocked to East Oxford this weekend for the annual Caption Festival.

The festival, which took place at East Oxford Community Centre, Princes Street, is the longest-running independent comic festival in this country and is in its 20th year.

Among the experts taking part was Dr Who comic book illustrator Al Davison, best known for his autobiography The Spiral Cage.

Mr Davison,  who ran an art workshop and took part in a panel discussion, said: “It’s quite diverse because it focuses on small press but then there’s people like myself who do small press and self-publishing but also work with the larger publishers as well.

“It’s very informal and friendly, a lot of people sharing information and anecdotes and advising each other on techniques. It’s one of my favourite festivals.”

About 100 people attended various events during the weekend.
