A road in Islip, near Kidlington, has been closed  and seven Environment Agency flood alerts remain in place across Oxfordshire this morning as the wet weather continues.

This afternoon Lower Street was closed to traffic after flooding between B4027 Mill Street and Middle Street / North Street.

Cloudy weather with temperatures of 8C and showers is the Met Office forecast for the county for today and tomorrow.

The River Thames in Oxford is full to bursting on some stretches with parts of the towpath near Port Meadow closed as river levels increased.

The Environment Agency flood alert is the lowest level warning and means flooding is possible and that residents should be prepared.

Alerts are still in place for the Thames and its tributaries in the Oxford area, for the Thames and its tributaries from Buscot Wick to Kings Lock, and for the River Cherwell down to and including Oxford.

The other flood alerts are for the River Thame and Chalgrove Brook, the River Windrush from Bourton to Newbridge, the River Evenlode from Moreton-in-Marsh to Cassington and also the River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock, and the River Leach from Northleach to Mill Lane near Lechlade, including Fyfield and Little Faringdon.

According to forecasters there will be brief spells of sunshine tomorrow and Friday but more rain is forecast for Saturday.
