A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a safe was stolen from the wall of house in Kidlington. 

Police said it came after a burglar climbed through the window of the home between 4.45pm and 6pm on April 5.

The safe contained a large amount of cash and a quantity of Turkish and Bulgarian gold jewellery and coins, including necklaces, bangles, rings and earrings. A CCTV hard drive was also stolen.

PC Nathan Davis said: “This burglary took place at a busy time of day, and a significant amount of highly sentimental jewellery was stolen.

"The victim's house is overlooked, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed this offence or who believes they have been offered any of the items for sale to please come forward."

The force said it had arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of burglary, who had been released 'under investigation'.
