SNOW: Two schools shut, Oxford Bus Company running normally

TWO primary schools in Oxfordshire are closed today due to the cold weather conditions.

St Swithun’s Primary School in Grundy Crescent, Kennington, is shut because its boilers are frozen.

And St Kenelm’s Primary School in Wenrisc Drive, Minster Lovell, has also suffered a boiler failure.

Both schools expect to reopen tomorrow, according to Oxfordshire County Council’s website.

Oxford Bus Company said it was running all routes as normal.

Diusgraceful The school governors should be asking why the caretaking at this building paid for by taxpayers is so sloppy. And then ask the head teacher why his/her management is equally sloppy. This would not be tolerated in a business and should not be tolerated in a taxpayer funded entity.

A lot of small schools don't have caretakers nowadays. Boilers do breakdown, sods law it's always when it's cold. I work within the heating industry and my packed up last week, I can assure you this was not down to neglect. And most schools are better serviced that the private industry.

Disgraceful. Pundit should be asking himself why he feels qualified to pontificate on matters about which knows little or nothing. This would not be tolerated in a GCSE exam paper in which candidates are expected to demonstrate knowledge and reasoning and should not be tolerated in a local newspaper's comment posts.

Well done Garry Henwood for bringing the voice of reason to this thread.

I bet some parents of children at this school were not quite so understanding when they couldn't go to work because of it.

I agree having a yound son, it does course problems, but it does happen! and if the school stayed open and the kids got cold the parents would still complain! To many H&S rules nowadays, can't remeber CH when I was at primary school!
