UPDATE: Reports power coming back but still problems

POWER seems to be being restored at various parts of the county hit by a big black-out at lunchtime today.

Electricity supplies were lost in parts of Oxford, Witney, Kidlington, Carterton, Bicester, Stonesfield, Chipping Norton, Standlake and Swerford.

Reports of flickering supplies have come in in the city and Abingdon.

Stagecoach has just said that the barrier it uses for the Route 10 bus into the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford is out of action.

It is now useing the old route via Headley Way, it has said.

Scottish and Southern Energy has not said yet what has caused the problem.
