A DRAMA on family separation from a child’s perspective has been performed for the last time after touring Oxfordshire schools for five years.
The last performance of Walking on Eggshells was put on by youngsters from Rose Hill and Windale primary schools in Oxford and St John Fisher in Littlemore.
It was created by Oxfordshire Family Mediation and WhatMatters theatre company, with scripts developed partly through workshops with the children.
Mediation service director Lizzie Iron said: “Fifty per cent of children up to the age of 16 in the UK will have experienced parental separation, so up to half the children we are working with have had or will have experience of this.”
Rose Hill pupil Ewan David Baggett, 10, was part of Tuesday’s cast. He said: “I think I learned quite a lot about separation of families, stuff that I didn’t know before.
“It has been useful just in case it happens. It’s good to learn.”
Oxfordshire Family Mediation will now be seeking funds for a theatre and film project for secondary school aged children.
