AFTER the organiser of Barry and Dinas Powys Foodbank, Susan Lloyd-Selby, gave a talk to Barry Rotary Club earlier in the year, the Rotarians voted to support the charity on an ongoing basis.
And they have been presenting this amazing support group with supplies every month. But as Christmas draws near, the flag-bearer for the Rotary support, secretary Phil Hunt, proposed that an additional contribution of £100 be made to buy festive food for inclusion in the Christmas food parcels. Bearing these supplies, the Rotarians handed them over at the Barry base of Foodbank, Coastlands Church.
Susan Lloyd-Selby thanked the Rotarians for the extra gifts and said they would help to make the Christmas parcels a bit special for those unfortunately down on their luck. In making the presentation John Shapland, president of Barry Rotary Club, said the club was pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile effort. He complimented the many volunteers who give up their time to make it all possible, and said he hoped the extra supplies might bring a little cheer to those in such difficult circumstances.
