A McDonald's has been robbed for the second time in two days.

At 12.50am today, a man entered the McDonald's in Oxford Road, Benson, and demanded staff open the safe.

A member of staff gave the man some cash before the robber stole more cash from the cash register.

He walked out of the restaurant and was then pursued by a male member of staff and made off in the direction of Littleworth Road, Benson.

It follows a similar incident yesterday when a man entered the same restaurant armed with a baseball bat, threatened staff and stole money.

Today's robber was described as  around 6ft to 6ft 1in, of slim build. He was wearing a hooded top, a biker jacket, black-coloured jogging trousers, black training shoes and a dark-coloured face covering, which was possibly a balaclava. He was carrying a baseball bat and a JD Sports drawstring bag.

Det Sgt Antony Maddison, from Abingdon Force CID, said: “A team of detectives is investigating this incident which we are linking to the previous robbery of the same restaurant yesterday.

“However our initial enquiries which have been carried out suggest the offender was a different person in both incidents. We are appealing for information in relation to this robbery and continuing to appeal for information in relation to the robbery at McDonald’s yesterday.

“Officers have provided crime prevention advice to the affected restaurant and are carrying out high visibility patrols in the area.

“Anyone with any concerns should please call the neighbourhood team on 101.”
