OLDER people across the city are becoming more computer savvy thanks to a new social club.
Residents gathered at Florence Park Community Centre on Friday for the new over-60s club.
City councillor for Cowley David Henwood said the club was yet to be named but was hoping residents would come up with suggestions. He said Overflow and Spring Chickens had already been proposed by those attending the club, which runs between noon and 2pm every Friday at the Cornwallis Road centre and launched last month.
Mr Henwood added: “We were overwhelmed on the first day. We had not expected 20-plus people to attend, coming not just from Cowley but from different parts of Oxford.

“The vibe that we picked up from those residents was that it was a very positive thing to do."
Oxford City Council awarded £1,500 of funding to help the community centre run the club for the next year.
County councillor for Cowley John Sanders and Mr Henwood donated cash from their ward budgets to buy four iPads for club members to use to develop their IT skills.
