A 17-year-old who teaches young St John Ambulance cadets has been recognised for his hard work in royal fashion.

Dan Green, from Stadhampton, was given a royal welcome at the Young Achievers' reception at Buckingham Palace as he met HRH The Princess Royal.

Dan was among a group St John Ambulance cadets from across the country to meet Princess Anne - who is the Commandant in Chief, Youth for St John Ambulance - in honour of his "outstanding contributions" with the charity.

He said: "I felt very privileged to have been selected to attend the reception and meet Princess Anne.

"It makes the energy and commitment I put into St John Ambulance worthwhile and it has provided me with a great sense of achievement."

Dan joined the St John Ambulance Thame Combined Cadets seven years ago and is now a leader cadet. In this role he helps teach young cadets first aid and runs weekly cadet sessions.

He also works throughout the community on first aid duties at events such as football matches at the Kassam Stadium and Thame Fair.

The charity’s annual Young Achievers’ Reception was held at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, November 5, and recognises St John Ambulance members throughout the country.

St John Ambulance regional youth manager for the South East Jo Gardner said: "The reception is a great way for us to recognise the commitment and outstanding work of these young people. They have all proven themselves as outstanding individuals.

"Dan fully deserved to be rewarded with an invitation to the reception."
