BRITAIN’S Got Talent bell ringing stars Gay and Alan Cooper brought a bit of celebrity sparkle to a charity Christmas concert at Dorchester Abbey.
The Wallingford couple gave bellringing renditions of Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bell Rock at the Footsteps Foundation seasonal spectacular on Wednesday night.
They performed alongside a ukulele band, a string quartet, a children’s choir, a poet, a jazz combo and several young musicians.
Mr Cooper said the evening was so diverse it felt like being at East Oxford’s famously eclectic open mic night, the Catweazle Club.
He said: “It was particularly nice to play with such a wide range of different musicians and to have some mulled wine – mulled wine always goes down well with me.
“I think we went down well. We got some good applause and we had a good time.”
The couple, who live in Borough Avenue, shot to fame in 2011 by reaching the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
Wednesday night’s concert was in aid of the Footsteps Foundation, which raises money to help parents afford treatment for their children at Dorchester disability therapy hub the Footsteps Centre.
