A knife-wielding man threatened a petrol station worker before making off with cash.

Police confirmed the robbery happened at about 1.15am today at the Esso station in Station Road, Wallingford.

A cordon was put in place at the scene but has since been lifted.

Police described the robber as white, aged between 20 and 25 years old, 5ft 11ins, and of large build.

He was wearing a grey hooded top and light blue jeans. He possibly spoke with a South African accent.

Investigating officer Det Con Francesca Griffin, from Abingdon Force CID, said: “Detectives are investigating the incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to contact police. If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of the incident please come forward.”
