Satisfaction rate higher in south

NINETY-FIVE per cent of residents in South Oxfordshire are satisfied living in the area, according to a new survey carried out by the district council.

Over three quarters of 1,104 residents surveyed also said the quality of services provided by the council was good overall and has improved.

But despite not increasing council tax, and making significant savings through joint working with Vale of White Horse District Council, the number of people who feel the council provides good value for money has dropped from 51 per cent in 2009 to 45 per cent.

But this is still higher than the value-for-money satisfaction rate of 36 per cent in 2007 and 29 per cent in 2005.

Satisfaction with the way the council runs things in South Oxfordshire is at 73 per cent, one per cent higher than the national average.

And nearly three quarters of residents feel they are well informed about the council and the services it provides, well above the national average of 59 per cent.

Really ? More taxpayers' money wasted - who did they ask ? not the businesses who have crashed due to the extortionate business tax they are charged. This seems to be just another excuse for the Councils to pat themselves on the back.

I can believe this; I've been to many meetings t different organisations in the district, and participants had very few gripes about services.

If our own standards are low, we are easily satisfied by those of others. If our own standards are high, SODC and Didcot Town Council fail to satisfy time and again. The only way to be satisfied with them, is to expect them to be disgusting. Then, and only then, do they never fail to meet expectations
